Wine: 2016 Federalist Zinfandel

From: California; Lodi

Grapes: Zinfandel

Cost: $13-$16

Alcohol: 14.5%

Taste: This one has a lot of flavor. Blackberry and plum. Really fruit forward with a bunch of spice.

Other Stuff:  For $13 bucks at Costco it’s hard to fault this wine for much. It’s not complex, but hits above its price point. It’s a tasty everyday option if Zinfandel is your thing. Perfect for pizza night or just kicking back.

I wanted to review this wine for Alexander Hamilton’s Birthday while we were away with out friends, but they drank it all before I could take notes. Easy to see why now.

The ambitious marketing copy on the back says that this wine is like George Washington … well … to each their own, but I don’t think this is the template that all Zinfandels are judged by. But, it is an overachiever.
