Wine: 2015 Dry Creek Vineyards Heritage Vines Zinfandel

From: California; Sonoma County

Grapes: 79% Zinfandel, 20% Petit Sirah, 1% Carignane

Cost: $20

Alcohol: 14.5%

Taste: Dark fruits … blueberry, tar, raisins but, not too jammy … spicy … cayenne black peppercorns, vanilla and yumminess.

Other Stuff:  This Zin is pretty darn great. The Dry Creek Heritage vines Zinfandel is one of my Aha wines from when caught the wine bug a few years ago.

Grafting century old budwood onto new rootstocks makes a cool link to the past and a great story too. If you like your Zin’s with a little more character, this one is definitely worth a try.

It was also the perfect 4th of July partner for the BBQ bacon burgers with avocado, tomato, and homemade pickles that we made.
